Sesame Street turns 40 November 10. Below is a clip from my favorite muppet: Kermit the Frog.

As I watch these old clips, I realize that Jim Henson must've really been in touch with his creative side and his heart. Creatives like him seem to possess an uncanny ability to reach into their soul, pull out what's there, unfold it, and craft some deceptively "simple" treat for the world to enjoy.

The characters he developed have not only endured for 40 years, but still manage to strike an emotional chord with even the most cynical adult. I hope to one day be half as talented as he was.

While in Tanzania this summer, I got the privilege of meeting Brother Pete O'Neal and his wife, Charlotte. They are wonderful people who are building a wonderful environment for the children of Africa and those who come to visit. Prayerfully I'll make it back soon.
