Flappy Hands

Audition Info

Synopsis:

This is the story about a man who will go to any extreme to change his feminine wave. Clarence's girlish salute has long been the subject of ridicule amongst friends, family, coworkers, small children, and the general public. While confiding in a friend one day, Clarence learns that due to his questionable masculinity, he may (amongst other things) be fired from his job. Clarence's paranoia leads him to a secret underground support group known as "FHA...Flappy Hands Anonymous".

The men meet bi-weekly to discuss their problem with one another and offer possible solutions. As a result of his initiation into the group, Clarence overcomes his handicap and boosts his confidence. His secret is an arsenal of "alternative" waves learned in the FHA: "the heavy-hand-man-wave," "the one finger salute," the "stick-em-up" and the ever popular "power-to-the-people-fist". As a result of his new greetings, Clarence receives a raise at work, approval from his friends, and mysterious love letters from attractive women.

While Clarence enjoys his new-found popularity at work and on the social scene, those close to him notice that it's eroding his integrity. In the end, he will be forced to make the decision whether to maintain his allegiance, or betray the brotherhood that made him what he is.

"The number 1 rule of Flappy Hands... DO NOT TALK ABOUT FLAPPY HANDS"

About

"Flappy Hands" is a satire about society's preoccupation with "masculinity" (and what defines it). Although the characters and the world of the film are largely exaggerated, they are drawn from very real circumstances.
